All North County Rugby Club players, coaches, administrators and
supporters are considered to be ambassadors of the sport of rugby, and who are viewed by
members of the general public and media as examples of the sport and those who play
it. As such, each player, coach, administrator and supporter of NCRC is
expected to behave with dignity both on and off the playing field.
Players, coaches, administrators and supporters should not tolerate rude,
profane, threatening or anti-social behavior of any sort, which would reflect
negatively on the image of the club, or the sport of rugby in general.
Any breach of this Code of Conduct will be subject to disciplinary action
by the Disciplinary Committee (D.C.).
From the Constitution: The disciplinary committee consists of the NCRC president, head coach and team
captain.
Prohibited Conduct
The following actions that occur at any event, which shall include pre-season
and tournament matches, practices or any club function, are prohibited under
this Code of Conduct:
Vulgar language or obscene gestures, especially when youth or members of the public are present.
Fighting with club members, supporters or administrators.
Interrupting the normal flow of practices or games.
Destruction or theft of property.
Unreasonable verbal harassment of a referee, coaches, teammates or opposing team, that goes beyond mere bantering.
Disciplinary Procedure for Violation of Code of Conduct
Reporting of Violations
Any individual who witnesses a violation may report the violation to a member
of the D.C. for further investigation.
From the Constitution: (The D.C.)... can meet at any time to consider issues affecting club
morale, club image or any other issue that they consider harmful to
the game of rugby, club members or the club itself.
Upon receipt of report of a violation the D.C. will convene to investigate the
allegations and hold a hearing. The violator will be notified of the allegation
and the hearing date.
At the hearing all evidence will be presented and the
alleged violator has the right to present his/her case.
For violation of this Code of Conduct, depending upon the offense and
at the discretion of the D.C., penalties could include (and are not limited to)
any or all of the following:
Placed on probation
Fined
Suspended or expelled from the club
Required to issue written or verbal apologies to
aggrieved parties
Repeated violations of this code of conduct will be dealt with harshly. Contest and Appeal Rights
Any club member may contest any violation of this Code of Conduct or any
subsequent decision made by the Disciplinary Committee in accordance
with the Constitution and Club By-Laws.
From the Constitution: A decision by the disciplinary committee can be overturned if a team meeting is
initiated by 1/3 of the voting members presenting a motion in writing with
signatures to the president. 50% of all eligible voting members must vote in
favour of the motion.
