A little about me |
|
Hello everyone. My name is Mike Lazarz. I'm seventeen years old and a junior at Poway High. I love to play sports, whether it be very physical, or very mental, or a little of both. I played football for three years, on the freshman team, and JV team at Poway High. This past fall, I decided to try cross-country and was a top competitor for the JV team, and moved on and off of the varsity team as well. A friend asked me one football practice if I would like to try rugby and, of course I said why not. I started playing at wing, and halfway through the season was moved to fullback where I finished my first season and started my second. However, I moved to scrumhalf (or halfback) and have stayed there for two seasons. I was selected for the Southern California All-Star team as a utility back and competed in the Denver Tournament against other All-Star teams from all over the USA. I also have played B side games with the North County Gurkhas men's team going on three years now. I realized that I love rugby. Every time there's a match, I'm there. It is my passion. It is hard to put that feeling into words. I love the feeling of victory but know that you can learn more from defeat. I was invited to tryout for the USA U-19 squad the past two years. But I had to decline this year for the opportunity of a lifetime, when I was selected to go to New Zealand to play and attend school at St. Paul's Collegiate, in Hamilton. Any donations will be used to pay for tuition, boarding, uniforms, books, etc. |
